BlueHost Web Hosting Review with Dirt
Have you seen all those web hosting ads like the one on the right or those bluegrid favicons and wondered what the…? Well, stay tuned, because here’s the scoop on Bluehost web hosting.
Bluehost is interesting. There seems to be a lot of contention surronding this web host. Some people think it’s the best thing over, hosting unlimited sites, and such. Other, for some reason, have really terrible experiences with the web host and think that Bluehost sucks….well, there’s really not many ways to put that. So, so help you decide for yourselves whether Bluehost sucks, here are some stats:
Their Cheapest Plan
- $6.95 per month on a 2 year package - There are no other hidden costs or fees. No sucker packages that trick new people into signing up and then find out they can’t even run WordPress.
- Bandwidth: 15k GB per month
- Space: 1500 GB
- Domains: Unlimited Addon, Unlimited Parked Domains, Unlimited Subdomains
- MySQL: 50 Databases
- Control Panel you can demo ahead of time. Fantastico Support. Great support forums and tech support
- Several Affiliate Programs
The Good
For those new to blogging, let’s break down those stats into something useful. I run 4 WordPress blogs, 4 subdomains, 2 addon domains, 4 MySQL databases, yet only use 1% of my bandwidth! In theory I could buy 49 additional domains, add them to the same control panel as addon domains, install 50 of copies WordPress using the 50 MySQL databases, and run 50 blogs all for $6.95 a month.
The Dirt
Now for the bad. Shared hosting by definition means you share your server with other people. Some of the people are knowingly bad or are unknowingly stupid. Either way, it is possible for them to temporarily crash the server. When that happens all your sites go down at once. My sites have gone down on occasion, but always came back up before I finished my phone call to tech support. Tech support is honest and helpful. Last time I called they told me some scripter crashed the server, but they couldn’t kick him immediately because of a “3 strike policy”. Funnily enough, I found scripters who complained about their site going down without warning and getting bad customer service. I wish they’d just freakin’ kick them off right away, those damn spammers.
Are You Freakin’ Kidding Me?
Dude, you’ve gotta commit for two years before you can even try it out?? C’mon now! I don’t even like to buy ice cream without tasting it first. This one’s definitely not for the commit-o-phobes.
In the end, you will find most reputable hosting companies (those not trying to trick you with sucker deals) all offer similar packages with similar options at similar pricing. What separates them is customer service and an active support community. So have you decided for yourselves whether Bluehost truly sucks?
And that folks is round 2 for web hosting tales. Not a ton of dirt on this one. Stay tuned as the saga continues.

I was with Bluehost for 2 years. I had nothing but problems with Bluehost. Problems with continual downtimes, email never worked properly, and CPU exceeds errors locking me out of my account. Out of the 20+ web hosting companies I have used Bluehost is one of the very worst. Bottom line Bluehost sucks big time!!!
its true BLUEHOST SUCKS A LOT, if you register a domain with them, YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TRANSFER IT even if its state is UNLOCKED, i was UNABLE TO TRANSFER it.
my site HAD MANY DOWNTIMES while their support team SUCKS, they answer fast, but without actually helping you, they usually blame my software for every error.
they put EXTREME CPU limts so the plans are useless, the space/bandwith is useless, with the CPU limits you CAN’T USE EVEN 100MB OF BANDWIDTH, and if they see you really need to be hosted, then they will SUSPEND YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT A REFUND as they did to me.
BLUEHOST=FAKE HOST, BLUEHOST SUCKS, BLUEHOST SUCKS, BLUEHOST SUCKS i am sorry to see there is so many victims of those thieves.
So now the real questions 1500gb ? yeah right so lets work this one out if say 20 people share the box ( that is 5% of the cpu each ) which is around the figure that most decent companies will use for shared hosting so that is 1500gb X 20 in a server so that is around 15 Hard Drives at 1TB each ?
How much have they paid you to review this get a life do some maths and then realise these deals are not worth the paper they are written upon . . .
They prob have closer to 100 per box
Avoid these stupid rake the cash in screw the customer webhosts
I’ve been with BlueHost now for 2 1/2 years and haven’t had any problem at all. I have more than 10 sites there.
The best review about bluehost is a bluehost customer review. I wish more people who use bluehost would chime in to give us their real experience, because that would really help out the rest of us.
blue host has some down time just like ANY shared Hosting.
HOWEVER they DO give refunds and they do allow you to transfer your domain and they do try and be fare to ppl, the three trike rule is so that if you did not commit the crime then you have another chance… sometime a hacker gets in from outdated PHP scripts and add something like a bank phishing site. this is stike 1.
all these lame reports are BULL, you are all just make cause they will not let you upload your copyright/porn onto the servers. GET A LIFE!!
You know, it’s funny, there are a lot of people that find this site by typing in BlueHost sucks into Google….it just makes you wonder how many people really do think their hosting is under par.
They have close to 500 on each box, not 20 or 100. Probably even more on older boxes.
And no, I never heard them talking about ANY refunds for the constant downtime of MySQL daemon or just moving my account to another box… BLUEHOST SUCKS BIG TIME. Don’t bother with them, it’s not worth having your website down constantly.

Been with bluehost since 05.. *love* them.. great customer service, and the package deal is awesome!
